HR Manager needed in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Direct Hire - A non-profit organization that is dedicated to serving all children, with absolute respect and unconditional love, to guide youth experiencing homelessness, and to protect and safeguard all youth in need.  A feel good job!  THIS IS NOT A WORK FROM HOME POSITION


Prefer those that come with experience working with non-profits and welcome diversity and inclusion. (must be vaccinated as it is required with the association with the government)


Salary:  $80 - $85/K 


Purpose of Position:


 


The Human Resources Manager guides and manages the overall provision of Human Resources services, policies, and programs for the entire agency. They will lead the development of a superior workforce and the development of an employee-oriented agency culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, and high performance. Designs, directs and manages an agency- wide process   of organization   development that    addresses    issues    such as succession planning, superior workforce development, key employee retention, organization design, and change management. Knowledge of employment law preferred.


 


The Manager is responsible to plan and provide appropriate strategies to recruit and retain paid and voluntary staff in order to meet the Mission of serving our youth. This position will provide oversight of all aspects of Human Resources including recruiting, screening, hiring, and retaining staff and volunteers in both Fort Lauderdale and Orlando as well as the administration of benefits. This position shall provide direction, leadership, and support to the HR Coordinators at both Fort Lauderdale and Orlando locations. This position serves as part of the Executive Team for the agency.


 


Requirements:


 


Bachelor’s Degree in related field is required. Masters’ degree preferred. Must have a minimum of 7 years of progressive management experience in all aspects of Human Resources including recruiting, compensation, benefit administration, and employee relations. Must possess high ethical standards, excellent organizational and communication skills, ability to exercise good judgment and exercise creative problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to effectively interact with multi-disciplinary staff. This position requires some travel between both Covenant House Florida locations.


 


Principal Accountabilities:


 


Provide critical staffing services to acquire new high performing staff and volunteers, including recruiting, screening, interviewing, and hiring. Ensure that staff and volunteers meet the requirements of the position. Refer appropriate candidates to department heads to interview so that collaboration between Human Resources and the department takes place in the hiring process. This includes internal promotional opportunities when they become available.


 


Leads company compliance with all existing governmental and labor legal and government reporting requirements including any related to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Department of Labor, worker compensation, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and so forth. Maintains minimal company exposure to lawsuits.


 


Serve as the “check and balance” function to ensure that staff members are treated in accordance with the Mission and Principles of the agency. This includes conducting investigations when necessary and implementing appropriate disciplinary actions up to and including possible termination of employment.


 


Serve as the Site Child Protection Officer (SCPO). This individual will work collaboratively with program staff, executive staff, and CHI Child Protection Services staff to maintain compliance with the essential elements of the child protection system.


 


Administer the agency compensation program to ensure that staff members are compensated in an equitable and competitive manner within the financial capacity of the agency.


 


Conducts a continuing study of all Human Resources policies, programs, and practices to keep management informed of new developments.


 


Partners with management to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures, programs and laws.


 


Determines and recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation.


 


Develop and administer human resource policies and procedures so that the objectives of the agency are met. Counsel management and supervisory staff on employee issues including staff development, implementation of fair and equitable supervision and performance evaluation.


 


Collaborate with Covenant House International’s Office of Human Resources to execute and implement goals, policies and procedures to advance agency best practices. Provide preventative measures to limit risk of legal action in employment issues. Represent agency in proceedings before appropriate tribunals.
